One of the premier treatments we provide is Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL), a state-of-the-art procedure designed to treat large or complex kidney stones that cannot be managed with other methods.
Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy, commonly referred to as PCNL, is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove kidney stones. This procedure involves making a small incision in the back and using a nephroscope to locate and remove the stones.
PCNL is particularly effective for stones that are larger than 2 centimeters, located in a challenging position within the kidney, or composed of certain types of materials that are resistant to other treatments.
Recovery from PCNL typically involves a short hospital stay of 1-2 days. Patients may experience some discomfort at the incision site and mild hematuria (blood in the urine), which usually resolves within a few days. Our medical team will provide detailed instructions on post-operative care, including pain management, activity restrictions, and follow-up appointments to ensure a smooth recovery.
